Hideo Kojima used the Xbox Tokyo Game Show 2026 broadcast to share fresh details about two of Kojima Productions’ most anticipated projects, PHYSINT and OD KNOCK. Among the biggest announcements was the confirmation that Swedish actor Bill Skarsgård will take on the leading role in PHYSINT, the studio’s upcoming action espionage title. A new visual connected to the project was also presented during the event, offering another glimpse at Kojima’s ambitious return to the espionage genre.

Development on PHYSINT is currently focused on several key production stages. Kojima explained that the team continues to work on casting additional performers, scanning talent for their digital appearances and coordinating with external creators involved in the game. The project also recently experienced a major publishing change. Sony Interactive Entertainment will no longer publish PHYSINT, with Microsoft’s Xbox Game Studios taking over publishing responsibilities.

Kojima also provided an update on OD KNOCK, the horror project being developed in collaboration with Xbox Game Studios. Performance capture and ADR recording have resumed following the interruption caused by the SAG strike. According to Kojima, production is progressing according to schedule, suggesting that development has returned to its planned pace after the temporary pause.

Meanwhile, the Death Stranding universe continues to expand beyond gaming. Following the release of Death Stranding: On the Beach on PlayStation 5 in June 2025 and its subsequent PC launch, the franchise is moving forward with multiple screen projects. Hammerstone Studios is developing a film adaptation written and directed by Michael Sarnoski, while ABC ANIMATION STUDIO is producing an original adult animated feature currently known as DEATH STRANDING MOSQUITO. Directed by Hiroshi Miyamoto, the animated project will tell a new story set within the universe created by Kojima Productions.
