Netflix's upcoming The One Piece anime reboot has reached an important stage in its production, bringing the ambitious project closer to its worldwide debut in February 2027. IG Port, the parent company of WIT Studio, confirmed on October 15, 2026 that delivery of the series has officially started. The information appeared alongside the group's latest financial results, which also mentioned progress on several other major productions. For fans who have been following the project since its announcement nearly three years ago, the update suggests that development is now entering one of its final phases ahead of release.

Produced by WIT Studio, known for projects such as Spy x Family and the first three seasons of Attack on Titan, The One Piece will offer a completely new animated interpretation of Eiichiro Oda's legendary manga. The first season is expected to cover the East Blue Saga, where Monkey D. Luffy begins his journey, assembles the first members of the Straw Hat crew and sets out in search of the mysterious One Piece. According to previously announced information, the adaptation will cover approximately 50 manga chapters across seven episodes, with a total runtime of around 300 minutes.

Rather than attempting to reproduce Toei Animation's long-running television series, WIT Studio is approaching the project from a different creative perspective. Studio co-founder and CEO George Wada explained that one of the main objectives is to introduce Oda's story to audiences who may be reluctant to begin an anime with more than a thousand episodes. The production is therefore being rebuilt from the opening chapter with contemporary animation techniques, while benefiting from decades of additional knowledge about the characters, world and later developments in the manga.

Wada has also emphasized that the studio considers The One Piece a reboot rather than a remake. Toei Animation's adaptation will continue to exist independently, while Netflix's version is designed as an alternative entry point for both newcomers and longtime fans interested in seeing the East Blue story reconstructed through a modern production approach. With delivery now underway and its February 2027 launch approaching, The One Piece is shaping up to be one of Netflix's most closely watched anime releases of the year.
