Shangri-La Frontier is preparing for an extended return to television. The anime’s official website has confirmed that Season 3 will premiere on January 10, with the series scheduled to remain on air for two consecutive cours. This means fans can expect roughly six months of uninterrupted adventures. The new episodes will be broadcast through MBS, TBS and 26 affiliated Japanese channels, while Crunchyroll has confirmed that it will stream the season internationally.
A new key visual was also unveiled alongside the announcement, featuring the phrase “Konton ga Hazeru,” which can be translated as “Chaos erupts.” The returning story will once again follow Rakurō Hizutome, an exceptionally skilled gamer whose unusual passion involves tracking down poorly designed games and mastering them. His journey into the hugely popular VR title Shangri-La Frontier, however, continues to challenge even his considerable gaming experience as he explores the world’s hidden systems, dangerous enemies and secrets.
The main cast from Season 2 will return, while C2C remains in charge of animation production. Toshiyuki Kubooka takes the role of chief director, with Hiro Ōki directing the new season and Naoki Kotani serving as assistant director. Kazuyuki Fudeyasu is once again handling series composition and scripts, with Ayumi Kurashima returning as character designer and chief animation director. MONACA will also continue to provide the soundtrack.
Shangri-La Frontier originally debuted as a web novel by Katarina on Shōsetsuka ni Narō in 2017, before receiving a manga adaptation illustrated by Ryōsuke Fuji in Weekly Shōnen Magazine in 2020. The first anime season arrived in October 2023, followed by Season 2 in October 2024, with both running for two consecutive cours. The franchise is also expanding into gaming with Shangri-La Frontier: The Seven Colossi, currently in development at Netmarble Nexus and scheduled to launch this year.
