The Fable is preparing for its return with a second season, and new information has now been revealed ahead of its Japanese broadcast. On October 13, 2026, the production unveiled the main visual for the upcoming season alongside six additional voice actors joining the cast. Season 2 is officially scheduled to premiere in Japan on January 9, 2027, continuing the anime adaptation of Katsuhisa Minami's acclaimed manga following the first season released in 2024.

The new episodes will notably explore the "Yamaoka Arc", introducing several characters who will play an important role in the next chapter of Akira Sato's story. Takanori Hoshino will voice Azami, while veteran actor Koichi Yamadera joins the series as Yamaoka. Hiroyuki Yoshino has been cast as Yukari, Taiten Kusunoki as Jiro, Satoshi Mikami as Koji Mizuno, and Seiyu Fujiwara as Suzumushi. These additions significantly expand the anime's cast as the story moves into a new conflict.

Ryosuke Takahashi will direct the second season at Tezuka Productions, with Yuya Takashima handling series composition. Kyuma Oshita and Saki Hasegawa are responsible for character design, while Shuichiro Fukuhiro will compose the soundtrack. The studio previously handled the first television season, which introduced audiences to the unusual daily life of one of the criminal underworld's most dangerous professional assassins.

The Fable follows an exceptionally skilled hitman capable of eliminating his targets within seconds. His life changes when his boss orders him to stop killing for an entire year and live as an ordinary civilian. Taking the identity of Akira Sato, he attempts to adapt to everyday society, although criminal threats and dangerous individuals continue to surround him. The original manga is published in English by Kodansha USA, while the anime's first season was distributed internationally through Disney+.
