Ranma 1/2 Season 3 Gets New Trailer Ahead of October Premiere

The countdown to the return of Ranma 1/2 has officially begun. Ahead of its Japanese premiere on October 3, 2026, the anime has unveiled a third promotional trailer offering another look at the upcoming season. The footage also gives fans their first proper preview of its new musical themes, with Fumino performing the opening song "Sunao Miman" and Yuika handling the ending theme "Kawaikunai." Following its television broadcast in Japan, the new season will also be available exclusively on Netflix.

MAPPA remains in charge of animation production for Season 3, while Konosuke Uda once again takes the director's chair. Several key members of the creative team are also returning, including Kimiko Ueno for series composition and Hiromi Taniguchi for character designs. Taniguchi additionally serves as chief animation director alongside Yoshiko Saito, Kosuke Kawamura, Riko Kaneda and Haruki Miura. Kaoru Wada continues to compose the soundtrack, while Chihiro Okawa oversees the series' art direction.

The anime will welcome back its extensive voice cast, led by Kappei Yamaguchi and Megumi Hayashibara as Ranma Saotome, with Noriko Hidaka returning as Akane Tendo. Familiar performers including Koichi Yamadera, Rei Sakuma, Toshihiko Seki, Kaori Nazuka, Tomokazu Sugita, Ayane Sakura and Mamoru Miyano are also part of the new season. Additional cast members include Masako Nozawa, Jun Fukuyama, Minami Tanaka, Mayumi Tanaka and Saori Hayami, with the roles of the latter two still being kept under wraps.

Created by Rumiko Takahashi, Ranma 1/2 began serialization in Weekly Shonen Sunday in 1987 and became one of the author's most iconic works. Its original anime adaptations, produced by Studio Deen, aired between 1989 and 1992 and were followed by OVAs, movies and a live action television special in 2011. The story follows martial artist Ranma Saotome, who transforms into a girl whenever he is exposed to cold water, while his father Genma turns into a panda. Their unusual curse becomes even more chaotic when Ranma finds himself engaged to Akane Tendo, setting the stage for the martial arts battles, romantic misunderstandings and comedy that have defined the franchise for decades.
