The upcoming Witch on the Holy Night anime film is entering the final stage of its promotional campaign with the release of a new 90-second trailer. The footage offers another look at Ufotable’s adaptation ahead of its Japanese theatrical debut scheduled for November 20, 2026. It also introduces the movie’s main theme, “Yoru to Ao,” performed by supercell. The track was written, composed and arranged by ryo, with Nagi Yanagi providing the vocals.
International audiences will not have to wait much longer after the Japanese launch. The movie is scheduled to begin its worldwide theatrical rollout in January 2027. Crunchyroll and Sony Pictures Entertainment will distribute the film in the United States and Canada from January 29, 2027, with screenings planned in both Japanese with English subtitles and an English-dubbed version.
More details about the production team have also been confirmed. Masaru Takeuchi serves as director, with Moe Tsuzuki handling character design and Masato Nagamori acting as chief animation director. Ufotable is responsible for script production, while Hideyuki Fukasawa is composing the music. Koji Eto is art director, Mika Matsuoka oversees color design, Manabu Kamino handles editing, Yuichi Terao supervises photography and finishing direction, and Hikaru Kondo serves as chief director. A new character illustration created by original character designer Hirokazu Koyama was revealed alongside the latest promotional material.
Originally released in Japan on April 12, 2012, Witch on the Holy Night, also known as Mahoutsukai no Yoru, is a visual novel developed by TYPE-MOON and written by Kinoko Nasu, the creator associated with Fate/stay night and Tsukihime. An international English version launched in December 2022 before arriving on Steam in 2023. With Ufotable now bringing the story to theaters, the project marks another major animated adaptation connected to TYPE-MOON’s catalogue.
