A new action-packed anime project is preparing to make its debut this November. Titled MECHA SAMURAI, the original short-form web anime will be distributed across YouTube, X, Instagram, and TikTok starting in November 2026. Ahead of its release, the production team has unveiled an official teaser trailer, introducing the series' futuristic samurai concept while confirming the main voice cast and key creative staff.
One of the project's biggest highlights is the involvement of Hiroyuki Takei, the acclaimed manga artist behind Shaman King, who is responsible for the original main character designs. The anime is being produced by Plott and TV Tokyo, with Plott also overseeing the planning process. Meanwhile, TO2KYO2 is handling the graphic design, bringing together a creative team for this new original production.
The story unfolds in contemporary Japan, where mysterious gateways known as Kimon have begun appearing throughout the country. These portals unleash dangerous mechanical creatures called Yokai, threatening the safety of humanity. Standing against this supernatural invasion is an organization of warriors known as the Samurai, whose members wield extraordinary katanas infused with mystical powers. At the center of the conflict is Chiaki Kuzumi, a young swordsman determined to confront the mechanical monsters and defend the human world.
The Japanese voice cast features Kentaro Mashiro as Chiaki Kuzumi, Riona Yamashita as Sana Fujimiya, Ayumu Mizukami as Kiyoharu Obana, and Masaaki Mizunaka as Kaoru Rindo. With its combination of traditional samurai imagery, mechanical enemies, and supernatural combat, MECHA SAMURAI is set to introduce an original action universe through a format designed for social media platforms. Additional details regarding its exact premiere date and release schedule have yet to be announced.
