Spice & Wolf: merchant meets the wise wolf is preparing for its return in 2027, and Kadokawa has now offered a first glimpse at Season 2. A new teaser promotional video was presented on October 3, 2026 during the Dengeki Bunko Aki no Saiten Online 2026 event. The presentation also confirmed that acclaimed voice actress Romi Park is joining the cast as Eve Bolan, introducing another major character to the next chapter of Kraft Lawrence and Holo's journey.
Several key members of the production team will return for the new season. Takeo Takahashi remains involved as chief director alongside Hijiri Sanpei, while Nobuyoshi Nagayama and Takahiro Majima will direct Season 2 at studio Passione. Koji Haneda is once again handling character designs together with Rina Sugimoto, while Kevin Penkin returns to compose the soundtrack. The staff also includes Tomoko Koyama on color design, Kazuhiro Inoue as art director, Yuki Okada as director of photography and Ayako Tan as editor.
The current anime adaptation premiered in April 2024 and ran for two consecutive cours. Crunchyroll distributed the series internationally while also providing an English dub. The story follows traveling merchant Kraft Lawrence, whose routine changes after he encounters Holo, a wolf deity who appears in the form of a young woman. Their partnership develops through a journey shaped by trade, economics, negotiations and personal relationships, giving Spice & Wolf a distinctive identity within the fantasy genre.
The franchise began with Isuna Hasekura's light novels, illustrated by Jū Ayakura, in 2006. After initially concluding its run with Volume 17 in 2011, the series returned in 2016 and has continued expanding ever since, with Volume 25 scheduled for release on October 9, 2026. Spice & Wolf previously received television adaptations in 2008 and 2009, as well as VR projects released in 2019 and 2020. The upcoming 2027 season will continue the newer television adaptation and further explore Lawrence and Holo's travels.
