The long-awaited anime adaptation of Reno Lemaire’s French manga DREAMLAND is taking another major step toward its Japanese debut. A second official trailer has now been released, offering a fresh look at Terrence and the mysterious universe that awaits him beyond the boundaries of reality. The video also introduces the series’ two main theme songs, with Faulieu. performing the opening track “movin’on” and Ai Tomioka providing the ending theme, “dream catcher”. Both songs can be heard throughout the newly released footage.
DREAMLAND is scheduled to begin broadcasting in Japan on October 17 at 2:00 AM JST as part of the ANiMAZiNG!!! programming block on ABC TV, TV Asahi and affiliated stations. International distribution has also been confirmed, with Crunchyroll streaming the anime worldwide outside Asia. ADN will additionally carry the series in French-speaking and German-speaking territories. Produced by Ellipse and La Chouette Compagnie, the adaptation brings together directors Juan Pablo Machado and Joe Celse, with Jean-Luc Cano and Antoine Maurel handling series composition. Bénédicte Ciaravino is responsible for character design, Constance Berthoux oversees 2D and special effects, Fanny Bricoteau handles sound effects, and Fabien Nataf composes the music. Soichiro Kubo serves as sound director, with Tohokushinsha managing sound production and Amuse Creative Studio supervising the Japanese localization.
The Japanese cast includes Kakeru Hatano as Terrence, Asami Tano as Eve, Kaede Hondo as Lydia, Takuya Eguchi as Savane, Hiroyuki Yoshino as Sabba, Takuya Masumoto as Ben, Serika Hiromatsu as Nity, Makoto Furukawa as Sealvia, Daisuke Namikawa as Neil and Masahiko Tanaka as Jung. The project adapts Reno Lemaire’s hugely successful French shonen manga, which has surpassed 800,000 copies sold in France and has built a dedicated readership since its debut.
At the heart of DREAMLAND is Terrence, a teenager traumatized by the fire that claimed his mother’s life. His fear of flames follows him even into his nightmares, until one night he becomes aware that he is dreaming and finally confronts the terror that has haunted him for years. That moment transforms him into a “Traveler”, a person capable of entering Dreamland, an extraordinary realm created from humanity’s dreams and nightmares. Armed with the ability to control fire, Terrence embarks on an adventure where friendship, love, memories and the mysteries of this parallel world gradually become inseparable from his everyday life.
