Detective Conan is preparing for a major television event with a brand-new two-hour anime special scheduled to air in Japan on September 25, 2026. Titled Detective Conan: The Counterfeit Case of Ultra 30, the production marks the franchise's first original two-hour TV special in a decade. A new promotional video and main visual have now been unveiled, offering fans an early glimpse at the investigation that will put Conan Edogawa and his allies at the center of a case with potentially nationwide consequences.

Music will once again play an important role in the occasion, with longtime Detective Conan collaborator Mai Kuraki performing the special's opening theme, "Hallelujah." The episode will be broadcast on NTV and its affiliated networks as part of the Kinyō Roadshow programming block, beginning at 9:00 p.m. in Japan. Actress Elaiza Ikeda, known for projects including the live action Doronjo and Sadako, will also join the cast as a special guest voice performer.

This new mystery revolves around the circulation of counterfeit banknotes, transforming what initially appears to be a criminal investigation into a threat that could affect the entire country. Conan and his companions travel to the National Printing Bureau facility in Nagano as they begin tracing the origin of the fake currency. The investigation subsequently leads Conan and Heiji Hattori to Osaka, where evidence suggests that the counterfeit notes may have been produced.

Created by Gōshō Aoyama, Detective Conan began serialization in Weekly Shounen Sunday in 1994 and has since developed into one of Japan's longest-running detective franchises. Its television adaptation has been airing since January 1996, alongside an extensive series of theatrical films. The story follows Shinichi Kudo, a brilliant teenage detective forced to adopt the identity of Conan Edogawa after a mysterious poison transforms his body into that of a child. While hiding his true identity, Conan continues solving complex cases alongside Ran Mori, Kogoro Mori and the Japanese police.
