Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 Reveals New Arasaka Escape Footage

Netflix has unveiled a fresh glimpse of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2, offering fans an intense preview of the new anime ahead of its October 20 release. The footage focuses on a dramatic escape from an Arasaka facility, immediately setting the tone for another dangerous journey through the brutal world of Cyberpunk 2077. Rather than continuing the story of the original series, this new production will introduce a completely separate narrative told across ten episodes, with themes revolving around revenge, redemption and the desperate need to leave a mark in a society obsessed with spectacle.

The sequel introduces a new group of characters, including Roman Carax, voiced by Momoka Terasawa in Japanese and Valeria Rodriguez in English, alongside Talia Yang, portrayed by Akari Kitō and Kimoy Lee. Kōki Uchiyama and Nazeeh Tarsha voice D, while Kentarō Tone and Clancy Brown take on the role of Weak Kingsley. Kai Ikarashi, who contributed to the original Cyberpunk: Edgerunners as a storyboard artist, animator, animation director and prop designer, will make his series directorial debut. Bartosz Sztybor returns as producer and writer, with Ichigo Kanno serving as lead character designer and Masahiko Otsuka once again handling the script.

Music will also remain a major part of the anime's identity. The opening theme will feature The Cure's 1978 track "10:15 Saturday Night", while Petite Meller's "Watson" has been selected as the ending song. Rapper RICO NASTY has also created and performed the original track "YOU CAN'T RUN FROM ME", previously featured in the anime's second teaser trailer. The first episode was already shown during a special premiere screening at Anime Expo on July 3, giving some attendees an early look at the new chapter.

Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 will premiere worldwide on Netflix on October 20. The original Studio Trigger anime debuted in September 2022 and expanded the universe of CD PROJEKT RED's Cyberpunk 2077, itself inspired by Mike Pondsmith's tabletop RPG series. The franchise has continued to grow outside streaming as well, with home video releases planned in several regions and the prequel manga Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Madness, written by Bartosz Sztybor and illustrated by Asano, expanding the setting even further.
