The upcoming TV anime adaptation of Fungus and Iron has revealed the complete version of its first teaser visual, offering a new look at the dark science-fiction series ahead of its television debut. The project is based on the manga created by Ayaka Katayama and is currently being produced by Yokohama Animation Lab. While the visual provides another glimpse at the atmosphere of the adaptation, the production committee has yet to announce its cast or an official release date.

Keitaro Motonaga has been appointed as director of the anime. His involvement, combined with Yokohama Animation Lab's production, gives fans their first concrete information about the creative team behind the adaptation. Additional staff members, voice actors, broadcasting details and streaming platforms are expected to be revealed at a later stage as production progresses.
The announcement arrives as the original Fungus and Iron manga approaches the end of its publication. The series is scheduled to conclude in the October issue of Kodansha's Bessatsu Shonen Magazine, released on September 9, while the tenth and final collected volume is planned for October 8. Kodansha USA is responsible for publishing the official English edition of the manga.
Fungus and Iron takes place in a disturbing world where fungi have infiltrated human brains and effectively stripped humanity of its freedom of thought. Within this oppressive society, Dante is regarded as an exceptionally powerful soldier who initially exists within the system. His encounter with a mysterious girl, however, begins to change his perspective and pushes him toward rebellion against the organisms controlling mankind. The anime adaptation will bring this dystopian conflict to television for the first time.
