The anime adaptation of Are You a Landmine, Chihara-san? is officially targeting January 2027 for its Japanese television debut. A first teaser trailer has now been released, offering an early look at the upcoming romantic comedy and its central characters. Originally expected sometime in 2026, the series has therefore been pushed back to the beginning of 2027. It will air as part of MBS and TBS' "Super Animeism Turbo" programming block, with broadcasts scheduled for Thursdays at 00:26 across 26 affiliated channels.

The story follows Kuroki, a high school student whose new semester suddenly becomes much more interesting when he is seated next to Mai Chihara. With her black hair, gothic-inspired fashion and intimidating expression, Chihara has developed a reputation among her classmates as a typical "jirai-kei" or "landmine" girl. Kuroki soon discovers, however, that the rumors surrounding her personality do not necessarily match reality. Behind her mysterious appearance is a surprisingly kind and somewhat eccentric teenager, setting the stage for an unconventional school romance.

The anime features Sayumi Suzushiro as Mai Chihara and Kazuki Ura as Kuroki, alongside Maaya Uchida as Chinatsu Iwakura, Tomokazu Sugita as Hibiya, Daisuke Ono as Kazami and several other established voice actors. Yasuaki Fujii is directing the project at Synergy SP, while Keiichirō Ōchi is responsible for supervising the series scripts. Majiro is handling the character designs, and Arisa Okehazama, whose credits include The Apothecary Diaries and Jujutsu Kaisen, is composing the soundtrack for King Records.

Created by Ryon, the original manga began serialization on the GANMA! platform in June 2021. The series later received additional recognition after winning a "Next Impact Comic" prize during the second Rakuten Kobo E-book Awards in 2024. Seven Seas Entertainment has also licensed the manga for an English-language release, giving international readers an opportunity to discover the story before the anime arrives in January 2027.
