Rockstar Games is adding another layer of player-driven characterization to GTA 6 with a mechanic known as the Criminal Profile system. Rather than judging players through a traditional morality meter, the feature evaluates the way Jason and Lucia operate throughout their criminal careers. Their methods, level of restraint, efficiency and tendency toward violence can gradually place them into distinct behavioral categories.

Players who execute robberies cleanly and avoid unnecessary casualties may develop a Professional reputation, while increasingly reckless behavior can push a character toward classifications such as Aggressive, Violent and Psycho. The system reportedly goes even further than that. An extreme condition beyond Psycho can apparently be reached, with the Criminal Profile symbol itself beginning to crack before eventually breaking apart. Once this final threshold is crossed, the change may remain permanent for the rest of that playthrough.

Because Jason and Lucia are tracked separately, players will be free to build two completely different criminal identities. Lucia could become a disciplined operator focused on efficient jobs while Jason evolves into a far more unpredictable and destructive figure, or vice versa. Avoiding unnecessary injuries during robberies and exercising restraint may also reinforce the Professional classification, encouraging players to think about how they complete objectives rather than focusing solely on whether they succeed.

The mechanic will not be forced into the foreground, however. Rockstar is reportedly allowing players to disable Criminal Profile notifications, while maintaining that there is no single intended way to experience the game. Even so, a character's reputation may have consequences for certain story elements and interactions across Vice City. By keeping track of how Jason and Lucia behave over time, GTA 6 could give role-playing choices considerably more weight and make each player's criminal journey feel noticeably different.
