Genshin Impact is preparing one of its most generous anniversary celebrations yet. With Version 7.1 scheduled to launch on September 23, HoYoverse will give players the opportunity to obtain two 5-Star characters without spending Primogems, just days before the game officially celebrates its sixth anniversary on September 28. The update will also continue the ongoing Snezhnaya storyline, introduce new playable heroes and distribute several additional rewards to both returning and active players.

One of the biggest additions is a new reward tied to the latest Archon Quest. Players who meet the required conditions will be able to select one event-exclusive 5-Star character from a lineup featuring Tartaglia, Nilou, Baizhu, Chiori, Clorinde and Varesa. A second free 5-Star character can also be selected from the standard roster, which includes Jean, Diluc, Qiqi, Mona, Tighnari, Keqing, Dehya and Yumemizuki Mizuki. HoYoverse is also offering 1,600 Primogems, 10 Intertwined Fates and further anniversary bonuses.

Genshin Impact Offers Two Free 5-Star Characters

 

Version 7.1 will expand the roster with Vesna and Vodyanitsa, two new 5-Star characters connected to Snezhnaya. Vesna is an Anemo Sword user capable of interacting with the new Stellar Swirl mechanic while summoning Spirit Blades in combat. She also brings a new exploration ability that allows her to fly through the open world. Vodyanitsa, meanwhile, is a Hydro Catalyst user who can transform into a Water Imp. Her abilities focus on healing, strengthening allies, weakening enemy resistances and enhancing Stellar Swirl damage, while her alternate form gives her unusual freedom of movement both in and outside water.

The update arrives as HoYoverse continues expanding Genshin Impact well beyond its original launch. The free-to-play action RPG remains available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC, while an animated adaptation is currently being developed by Ufotable, the studio behind Demon Slayer. No release date has been announced for the anime yet, but with Version 7.1 and the sixth anniversary approaching, September is shaping up to be an especially important month for the Genshin Impact community.
