HoYoverse has officially unveiled Version 7.2 of Genshin Impact, titled "Hour of Ruin," which is scheduled to arrive on November 4, 2026, across all supported platforms. This major update will introduce a new chapter of the Archon Quest, taking players into an escalating crisis that threatens the entire continent of Teyvat. As the mysterious Nails of Retribution begin destabilizing the world and triggering the dangerous Holy Soil phenomenon, the Tsaritsa calls upon representatives from all seven nations to gather in Snezhnaya. Players will join forces with powerful allies, including the Archons and Neuvillette, to prevent a devastating catastrophe. Completing the new storyline within the designated period will reward players with 560 Primogems and character enhancement materials, while additional missions will offer exclusive items, including a Snezhnaya-inspired Wind Glider.

Exploration will also receive a substantial expansion with the introduction of eastern Snezhnaya, featuring several new locations and environmental challenges. Among the highlights is Novokitezhgrad, an underground industrial city surrounded by Kresnik Kristall deposits, which players can reach through the region's railway network. Beyond the frozen landscapes lies Wingspan Peak and the ancient settlement of Old Kitezhgrad, offering further insight into Snezhnaya's history. New gameplay mechanics will allow players to confront contaminated crystal formations using specialized equipment, including Prime Ice Constructs and elemental shotguns. Additional quests will follow Danica and Mitya as they investigate separate mysteries connected to the ongoing crisis. A massive creature lurking beneath the ocean will also provide a formidable new combat challenge.

Two additional characters will become playable in Version 7.2. Mitya, a five-star Electro Catalyst user, specializes in transforming Superconduct into the more powerful Stellar-Conduct reaction, allowing him to enhance team damage and alternate between active combat and supporting roles. His abilities revolve around accumulating energy to unleash devastating attacks, while his exploration equipment can reveal hidden locations throughout Snezhnaya. Valeriy, meanwhile, joins as a four-star Electro Sword character who provides defensive shields and improves Electro damage output. Both characters will appear during the first phase of Event Wishes alongside Furina's return. The second phase will feature reruns of Zibai and Linnea, as well as a new Chronicled Wish dedicated to selected characters from Natlan.

Beyond the main storyline, the update will introduce a large-scale limited-time event bringing together allies from across Teyvat to combat the Holy Soil phenomenon. Players will participate in rescue operations, intelligence missions, and emergency assignments to earn Primogems, upgrade materials, and the opportunity to recruit a four-star character of their choice. Other additions include a filming activity in Snezhnaya, a mining challenge in Natlan, and improvements to Miliastra Wonderland, featuring a masquerade-themed lobby, a free four-star cosmetic set, and expanded stage creation tools. With new characters, extensive exploration opportunities, and significant narrative developments, Version 7.2 promises another substantial expansion of the Genshin Impact experience.
