Indie studio Cozy Lives, a spin-off of Free Lives, has officially launched Dressmaker on Steam for PC and Mac, and the cozy fashion simulation is already attracting considerable attention. Ahead of release, the game had accumulated more than 400,000 wishlists, highlighting strong interest from players. Just a few hours after becoming available on September 21, 2026, Dressmaker had already surpassed 6,000 simultaneous players, giving the new independent release an encouraging start.
Rather than focusing on the management of a fashion boutique, Dressmaker places tailoring itself at the heart of the experience. Players select fabrics, work with patterns, cut materials, assemble garments with a sewing machine and complete their creations with decorative elements such as buttons, bows and accessories. The developers have drawn inspiration from real dressmaking techniques, with the different stages of production forming the core gameplay loop.
Dressmaker also includes a story campaign offering more than 35 hours of content. As the town's professional dressmaker, players receive commissions from customers looking for outfits adapted to their personal tastes, specific occasions and different venues. Original designs can also be produced in advance and displayed for sale. Completing successful commissions improves the player's reputation while generating income that can be reinvested into more elaborate fabrics, materials and accessories.
The game is priced at $14.99, with Cozy Lives emphasizing that Dressmaker does not rely on microtransactions, advertising, data harvesting or generative AI. The studio says its goal is to make the game accessible to as many players as possible, with giveaways also planned through social media and participating content creators. Dressmaker is currently available on Steam with a 10% launch discount until September 28. Versions for Nintendo Switch and mobile devices are in development, while a future update is expected to introduce an online challenge mode allowing players to submit designs and vote for their favorites.
