Kodansha has officially announced that Funsou Deshitara Hatta Made, the geopolitical manga created by DEN Motohiro, is getting an anime adaptation. The project will take the form of a TV anime series, although no release date, studio or production staff have been revealed at this stage. Further details are expected to be shared in the coming months.

At the center of the story is Yuri Hatta, a highly skilled consultant and negotiator who travels around the world to tackle disputes of every scale. Her assignments take her from Ukraine and Palestine to the United Kingdom, India, South Africa, Sweden and Taiwan. Rather than approaching geopolitics purely through major international events, the series examines conflicts through the people directly affected by them, making complex political and social issues easier to understand.

Blending seinen drama, comedy, action and slice-of-life elements, Funsou Deshitara Hatta Made explores how geography, history, cultural identities and ethnic dynamics contribute to modern tensions. The manga also includes extensive explanatory material that provides additional context for readers who may not already be familiar with the regions or situations featured throughout the story.

Despite dealing with serious subjects, the series maintains an accessible and often surprisingly light tone. Its stories are not limited to international crises either, with Yuri occasionally confronting smaller disputes involving football clubs, communities or groups of young people. Originally launched by Kodansha in 2019, DEN Motohiro's manga has currently reached 20 volumes in Japan, establishing itself as an unusual work capable of turning geopolitics into an entertaining and approachable narrative.
