The Overlord [Shin] Sekai-hen manga is temporarily suspending publication following the hospitalization of its artist, Matsuki. The creator announced the news on October 7, 2026 through social media, explaining that a period of rest and recovery is now necessary. No date has been provided for the series' return, meaning readers will have to wait for further information regarding the continuation of the manga.

Matsuki launched Overlord [Shin] Sekai-hen in Kadokawa's Comp Ace magazine in April 2024. The series serves as a direct continuation of the previous Overlord manga adaptation by Hugin Miyama and Satoshi Ōshio, picking up the story around the events covered in the tenth volume. At this point in the narrative, Ainz has emerged victorious from the Battle of the Katze Plains and established his own magical nation. Kadokawa most recently released the fourth collected volume of the sequel manga on March 26, 2026.

The original manga adaptation of Kugane Maruyama's Overlord light novels began serialization in 2014 and concluded its first part in May 2023. Its nineteenth volume was released in Japan in December 2023, while Yen Press published the English edition in October 2024. Maruyama originally started the Overlord story online in 2010 before Kadokawa began publishing the light novels in print in 2012 with illustrations by so-bin. The main novel series is planned to conclude with its eighteenth volume.

Overlord has also developed into a major anime franchise. Overlord IV premiered in July 2022 and was distributed internationally by Crunchyroll, including an English dub. The franchise later returned to cinemas with Overlord: The Sacred Kingdom, which opened in Japan in September 2024 before receiving screenings across North America, Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Latin America.
