SSS-Class Revival Hunter is officially heading to television, with an anime adaptation scheduled to premiere in January 2027. The project will bring Sinnoa and Neida’s popular fantasy series to the screen under the production of Studio fu. Crunchyroll has also confirmed that it will distribute the anime internationally outside most of Asia, while viewers in several Asian territories, including India, Indonesia, Singapore, the Philippines and Malaysia, will also have access to the series.
The first announced cast members include Takeo Ōtsuka as protagonist Gongja Kim and Satoshi Hino as the Sword Emperor. Hiroaki Sakurai, known for his work on The Demon Girl Next Door, will direct the adaptation at Studio fu. Sayuri Ōba, who previously worked on Romantic Killer, is handling the script, while Trigun character designer Takahiro Yoshimatsu will oversee the anime’s character designs.
The story takes place after the mysterious appearance of a gigantic tower filled with dangerous monsters and opportunities for Hunters seeking fame and fortune. Gongja Kim begins his journey as an unimpressive F-rank Hunter living in the shadow of the powerful Flame Emperor. His situation changes when he encounters the Sword Emperor and obtains an exceptional S-rank ability. However, using this extraordinary power comes with a brutal condition: Gongja must die before the skill can activate.
SSS-Class Revival Hunter originally debuted as a web novel in November 2018 before receiving a webtoon adaptation in December 2020. The series subsequently expanded internationally, with Tapas publishing the English-language webtoon and WuxiaWorld distributing the novel. Its upcoming anime now marks another major step for the franchise ahead of its January 2027 launch.
