Fans of From Old Country Bumpkin to Master Swordsman have another adventure to look forward to. A third season of the TV anime has officially entered production, with the announcement arriving shortly after the conclusion of Season 2. To mark the occasion, the production team also unveiled a brand-new commemorative illustration. The series first made its television debut in April 2025, while its second season began airing in July 2026.
The announcement was accompanied by a special celebratory video featuring Hiroaki Hirata, the Japanese voice actor behind protagonist Beryl Gardenant. While Season 3 is now officially confirmed, its broadcast window and additional production details remain under wraps for the moment. Further information regarding the returning cast, staff and premiere date is expected to be revealed at a later stage.
The franchise is also preparing a physical release for its recently completed second season. Season 2 will be released across two Blu-ray volumes, with the first scheduled for March 3, 2027, and the second following on April 2, 2027. Both editions will feature newly drawn cover artwork from character designer Satsuki Hayasaka. Bonus material will include a booklet containing a new novel written by the original author, alongside the anime's official soundtrack.
Based on the light novel series by Shigeru Sagazaki, From Old Country Bumpkin to Master Swordsman follows Beryl Gardenant, a veteran sword instructor living a quiet life in a remote village. His routine changes dramatically when one of his former students informs him that he has been selected as a special instructor for the knights of the Liberion Order. After travelling to the capital, Beryl finds himself reunited with former pupils who have since become elite knights, powerful mages and renowned adventurers, forcing the supposedly modest swordsman into a role far greater than he ever expected.
