LIAR GAME is officially moving forward with a second season. The announcement was made on September 28, 2026, confirming that the psychological thriller will continue its anime run following its television debut. Crunchyroll is streaming the series, while character designer Kei Tsuchiya marked the reveal with a newly released commemorative illustration dedicated to the franchise.
The story follows college student Nao Kanzaki, whose ordinary life is suddenly disrupted when she receives a mysterious invitation alongside 100 million yen. She soon discovers that she has been selected for the LIAR GAME, a dangerous competition built around manipulation, deception and psychological pressure. Completely unprepared for such a ruthless environment, Nao turns to Shinichi Akiyama, an exceptionally intelligent former con artist whose ability to anticipate his opponents becomes essential to surviving the increasingly elaborate games.
Created by Shinobu Kaitani, the original LIAR GAME manga was serialized in Weekly Young Jump between 2005 and 2015. Over the years, the series developed a strong reputation for its mind games, strategic confrontations and exploration of trust, greed and human behavior. Its popularity also led to several adaptations outside manga, including a live action television drama in 2007, a live action film in 2010 and a stage production in 2023.
The anime adaptation is produced by Madhouse, the studio behind major titles such as Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End and Chi: On the Movements of the Earth. Season 2 is expected to continue expanding the series' high-stakes battles of intelligence, with Nao and Akiyama facing opponents determined to exploit every weakness. Further details regarding the new season, including its release schedule and additional production information, have yet to be announced.
