After several years away from television, Black Clover is officially preparing for its long-awaited comeback. Crunchyroll has confirmed that the anime will return on October 3, 2026, marking the beginning of a new chapter for Asta and the Magic Knights. The series will initially be available in Japanese with English subtitles, while an English dub has also been announced for a later date.
This new season will place the Clover Kingdom in an increasingly dangerous situation. With the Dark Triad threatening the balance of power, Asta and his allies will have to venture into the Spade Kingdom in an attempt to rescue captured squad captains. The confrontation is expected to push the Magic Knights far beyond their previous limits, while Asta continues his relentless pursuit of the dream he has carried since the beginning: becoming the Wizard King.
The return also comes at a very different time for the anime industry. The original television run of Black Clover reached 170 episodes and followed the continuous weekly format that was once common among major shonen adaptations. Today, productions are increasingly divided into seasons, allowing studios to dedicate more time and resources to animation quality. Series such as Demon Slayer, Jujutsu Kaisen and Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War have significantly raised audience expectations when it comes to visual spectacle and production values.
Studio Pierrot will therefore face considerable expectations with this new chapter. One of the most frequent criticisms directed at the original series concerned the inconsistent quality of some episodes, despite several spectacular highlights. Season 2 now has an opportunity to present Black Clover with a more modern production approach. Fans will be able to discover the new episodes on Crunchyroll from October 3, while the previous television episodes remain available on the platform. The movie Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King can currently be streamed on Netflix.
