Arc System Works has confirmed that BlazBlue: CentralFiction is making its way to PlayStation 5, giving the long-running fighting game a new release on Sony's current-generation console. Announced on October 10, 2026, the PS5 edition will introduce several technical and accessibility improvements, including rollback netcode and cross-play support with the PC version. The game will also receive four additional text languages, with French, Italian, German and Spanish joining the available options, alongside new features designed for Training Mode.

The announcement arrives during a renewed period of activity around CentralFiction. Earlier in June 2026, Arc System Works teased the arrival of a new downloadable fighter during EVO 2026 before confirming Trinity Glassfille as the next playable character. Her addition is particularly notable as she becomes the first new fighter added to CentralFiction since Jubei joined the roster in 2017. Trinity Glassfille is currently planned for the PlayStation 4 and PC versions, while no availability has been announced for the arcade, PlayStation 3 or Nintendo Switch editions.

Arc System Works America has also clarified that the PlayStation 5 release will arrive after the "TRINITY -PHASE 3-" update. No exact launch date for the PS5 edition has been confirmed at this stage. CentralFiction originally debuted in Japanese arcades in November 2015 before launching on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 in Japan in October 2016. The North American release followed in November 2016, while a Nintendo Switch version later arrived in February 2019.

The wider BlazBlue franchise has remained active through other projects as well. BlazBlue Entropy Effect entered Steam Early Access in August 2023 before receiving its full PC release in January 2024. Its expanded BlazBlue Entropy Effect X edition later launched on PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch and Xbox Series X|S on February 12. With CentralFiction now preparing for a PS5 release, Arc System Works is bringing one of the series' major competitive entries back into the spotlight with modern online functionality.
