Chiikawa is making an unexpected move into the medical world with a new collection of professional scrubs inspired by the beloved characters created by illustrator Nagano. Developed in collaboration with Japanese medical apparel brand Classico and its Scrub Canvas Club line, the collection will officially go on sale on October 1, 2026, through the Classico online store and selected retailers. Rather than turning the uniforms into highly visible character merchandise, the designers have opted for a more refined approach that brings elements of the Chiikawa universe into clothing intended for doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals.

The collection features Chiikawa, Hachiware, Usagi, Momonga and Kurimanjuu across four different colors: Purple Gray, Deep Navy, Greige and Charcoal. Each version has its own visual identity and references specific characters, expressions or moments from the series. Purple Gray, for example, uses discreet line-art embroidery of Chiikawa, Hachiware and Usagi around the chest, while the inside of the garment features a more detailed original pattern filled with recognizable items from the franchise. The result is designed to remain professional while offering subtle details that longtime fans will immediately notice.
Deep Navy takes inspiration from the memorable Weed Pulling Certification storyline, incorporating visual references to Chiikawa's repeated attempts to pass the exam. Greige brings together Chiikawa, Hachiware, Usagi and Momonga, with soft embroidery colors corresponding to each character and playful faces appearing from the pockets. Charcoal offers an even more understated option, decorating the uniform with light gray illustrations of five characters while maintaining a sober look suitable for a wide range of professional environments.
The collaboration arrives during another major year for the Chiikawa franchise. The series, which originally gained popularity through Nagano's posts on X, has grown into one of Japan's most recognizable contemporary character properties. Its first theatrical movie, Chiikawa: The Secret of Mermaid Island, opened in Japan on July 24, 2026 and reportedly generated 12.2 billion yen at the box office with approximately 8.49 million admissions by August 30. With this new medical apparel collection, Chiikawa continues to expand beyond manga and animation, bringing its characters into an entirely different part of everyday life.
