One of Dengeki Bunko’s long-dormant series is preparing for an unexpected comeback. Black Bullet: New World Order will begin publishing in Japan in November 2026, bringing Shiden Kanzaki’s post-apocalyptic universe back into the spotlight more than a decade after the original light novel run came to a halt.

 

Rather than returning with a single volume, the publisher has prepared an unusually aggressive release strategy. Eight books are planned over four months, with two releases scheduled each month until February 2027. The first two volumes will arrive together in November, while the third installment will be divided into two books in December. Volumes 4 and 5 will follow the same two-part format in January and February. Dengeki Bunko has also hinted that the project will introduce new story material, although it has yet to reveal where this next phase will take its characters.

The announcement was supported by a promotional video featuring Yuki Kaji and Rina Hidaka, returning as the familiar voices associated with Rentaro Satomi and Enju Aihara. The original novels, written by Kanzaki and illustrated by Saki Ukai, launched in 2011 and reached seven volumes before publication stopped in 2014. The story takes place in a devastated future where humanity has been pushed behind massive defensive barriers by Gastrea, a parasitic threat capable of transforming its victims. Rentaro and Enju are among the specialized fighters tasked with confronting that danger.

Black Bullet previously expanded into both manga and anime, including a 13-episode television series produced by Kinema Citrus and Orange in 2014. For now, however, fans should keep expectations focused on the books: New World Order has only been announced as a light novel project, and no new anime series or continuation has been confirmed.
