Battlefield 6 is preparing to bring one of its most iconic maps back into the spotlight. Electronic Arts and the development teams have just unveiled a new gameplay trailer dedicated to Wake Island, which will officially join the game on August 18, 2026. Having already appeared several times throughout the franchise, this legendary island is returning with a modernized design intended to preserve its identity while fully embracing Battlefield 6’s new mechanics.

 

 

This new version of Wake Island will place particular emphasis on the naval battles introduced with the latest season. Players will be able to explore a shipwreck, fight along the coastline and attempt to take control of an aircraft carrier that could become a major strategic point during matches. The map should also provide terrain particularly suited to the new piloting experience introduced by the Top Gun update, with aerial battles complementing the land and sea combat.

The developers appear to have sought to enrich Wake Island’s historic structure without simply reproducing the previous versions. Enemy bunkers, several contested areas and new tactical possibilities should provide a fresh experience, while environmental destruction will remain at the heart of the battles. The announcement also mentions new “destruction opportunities” without revealing their exact nature, suggesting that certain surprises will be reserved for players.

The trailer already offers a particularly chaotic glimpse of this new incarnation of Wake Island, featuring explosions, vehicles, infantry combat and air strikes. Following several content additions over the course of the seasons, Battlefield 6 is therefore continuing its development by focusing this time on the return of a true series classic, revisited to take advantage of the systems and scale of the battles offered by this installment.
