Firefly Wedding is putting the spotlight on its two central characters with a pair of new promotional videos dedicated to Shinpei Goto and Satoko Kirigaya. The character trailers arrive ahead of the anime's Japanese premiere on October 9, 2026, offering another look at the personalities and relationship at the heart of Oreco Tachibana's romantic drama. The series will also be available internationally through Crunchyroll.
The anime stars Koki Uchiyama as Shinpei Goto and Lynn as Satoko Kirigaya. They are joined by Kent Ito as Kotaro Ogawa and Kenjiro Tsuda as Mitsueda. Takahiro Kamei is directing the adaptation, with Yuko Kakihara handling series composition and scripts. Yukiko Aikei is responsible for the character designs, while NOGRID is composing the music. Animation production is being handled by david production.
Firefly Wedding follows Satoko, the daughter of a noble family whose privileged position hides a far more difficult reality. Suffering from poor health and aware that her life may be short, she hopes to secure a marriage capable of improving her standing within her family. Her plans are suddenly disrupted when she becomes the target of Shinpei, a mysterious assassin. Faced with an extremely dangerous situation, Satoko attempts an unexpected solution by proposing marriage to the man threatening her life.
The anime is based on Oreco Tachibana's manga, which began serialization in 2023 and has reached 10 collected volumes in Japan. VIZ Media publishes the series in English. Combining historical romance, danger and an unconventional relationship between its protagonists, Firefly Wedding has built its story around the increasingly unpredictable connection between Satoko and Shinpei, a dynamic that will now make its transition from manga to television animation.
