The upcoming Naruto live action movie is beginning to take shape, with new information offering a clearer idea of the story Lionsgate may bring to the big screen. According to a plot synopsis reported by Knight Edge Media, the film will follow Naruto Uzumaki at the beginning of his career as a ninja, as he embarks on his first major mission alongside Sasuke Uchiha and Sakura Haruno.

The synopsis describes Naruto as a talented but difficult young recruit living in a world where becoming a ninja is a childhood ambition shared by many. What initially appears to be a standard assignment for Team 7 soon develops into a far more dangerous situation. Naruto will also have to confront the mysterious force hidden within him, introducing the demonic power that plays a central role in his identity and abilities throughout the original manga and anime.

The document does not reveal the exact nature of the mission. However, the reference to Naruto's first major assignment naturally brings the Land of Waves storyline to mind. In Masashi Kishimoto's original work, this early arc sends Team 7 outside Konoha and introduces two major antagonists, Zabuza Momochi and Haku. The storyline is frequently regarded by fans as one of the first moments where Naruto establishes its darker themes, emotional stakes and more serious ninja battles.

Questions also remain regarding the age of the main characters. Lionsgate previously launched casting searches involving performers of different age groups for Naruto and Sakura, making it difficult to determine exactly how old Team 7 will be in this adaptation. Production is currently expected to begin in the United Kingdom in early 2027, while further casting and story details have yet to be officially announced.
