The Remarried Empress is officially heading to television with a new anime adaptation scheduled for 2027. Crunchyroll revealed the project during New York Comic Con on October 8, confirming that animation studio TROYCA will handle production. The series is based on the hugely successful webtoon created by HereLee and SUMPUL, itself adapted from Alphatart's original web novel. The announcement also introduced the main Japanese voice cast, with Yōko Hikasa as Navier, Ryōhei Kimura as Heinrey, Tomoaki Maeno as Sovieshu and Reina Ueda as Rashta.

Tetsuya Yanagisawa, known for works such as Berserk of Gluttony and High School DxD, will direct the anime at TROYCA. Akiko Inoue is overseeing the series composition and scripts, while Jun Nakai, whose credits include GATE and NieR:Automata Ver 1.1a, is responsible for the character designs. Yūki Fukazawa will compose the soundtrack. Further information regarding the exact broadcast date and episode count has not yet been revealed.

The story centers on Navier, the respected Empress of the Eastern Empire, whose position is threatened when her husband, Emperor Sovieshu, decides to replace her with his mistress. Rather than accept the situation, Navier chooses divorce and sets her sights on becoming Empress of another kingdom. The romantic fantasy has developed a massive global audience, surpassing 2.97 billion views and receiving translations into ten languages, with particularly strong popularity in Japan.

The original webtoon concluded its seven-year main run in January 2026, although additional side stories are set to expand the series further. English readers can access the digital version through WEBTOON, while Ize Press publishes the print edition. The franchise is also expanding beyond animation with a live action series scheduled to premiere on Disney+ and Hulu on November 4, 2026, with ten episodes planned in total.
