Go With the Clouds, North-by-Northwest is officially getting a television anime adaptation, with its worldwide debut scheduled for 2027. Based on Aki Irie's acclaimed manga, the series will air in Japan on TBS while Netflix will handle exclusive international streaming. The announcement was accompanied by the release of a first promotional video and a new key visual, offering an early look at the anime's distinctive Icelandic setting and mysterious atmosphere.
The story follows Kei Miyama, a 17-year-old living in Iceland who leads a far more unusual life than most teenagers. Kei works as a private detective and possesses the strange ability to communicate with cars, although interacting with attractive girls proves considerably more difficult for him. His investigations range from locating missing pets to tracking down people connected by chance encounters, before eventually leading him toward a much more personal mystery involving his own younger brother.
Tomohiro Ono will voice Kei Miyama in the upcoming adaptation. Yosuke Kubo is directing the anime, while Takashi Sano is responsible for series composition and general direction. Chikashi Kubota is handling the character designs, with animation production entrusted to studio Qzil.la. Further information regarding the supporting cast, music team and exact broadcast date has yet to be revealed.
Aki Irie's original manga currently consists of seven collected volumes. The English-language edition is published by Vertical, an imprint of Kodansha USA. Mixing detective fiction, travel, supernatural elements and character-driven drama, Go With the Clouds, North-by-Northwest has built its identity around the landscapes of Iceland and Kei's unconventional investigations. Its arrival on Netflix in 2027 will now introduce the series to a much wider international audience.
