Volume 114 of ONE PIECE was released on March 4, 2026 and marks a historic milestone: the series has now surpassed 600 million copies in circulation worldwide. To celebrate the occasion, a special project puts the spotlight on its creator, Eiichiro Oda, who promises to record the “truth” surrounding ONE PIECE and its hero, Monkey D. Luffy. A commemorative video was also published on the official YouTube channel, centered on one question: “What is the ONE PIECE?”

In this presentation, the answer is written on a single sheet of paper: the question “What is ONE PIECE and who is Monkey D. Luffy?” appears at the top, with the famous “truth” at the bottom. However, this part is torn, placed in a treasure chest, and then carried to the bottom of the sea—a clear symbol that the secret will remain sealed until the story’s conclusion and will only be revealed at the very last moment. Meanwhile, the morning editions of the Asahi Shimbun and the Yomiuri Shimbun newspapers are publishing a life-size reproduction of the top half of the sheet as an advertisement.

Another major announcement is that the WT100 (World Top 100) worldwide character popularity poll officially begins today. This is the second edition since its launch in 2021 (to celebrate the 1,000th episode), with 1,560 characters eligible to participate. Fans can vote from anywhere in the world, and starting on March 16, the weekly regional Top 5 will be revealed every Monday at midnight. Voting is available through the WT100 website, the ONE PIECE BASE app, or by postcard (with a dedicated ticket, available notably through the obi of Volume 114 and certain Shueisha publications). The final results will be announced during ONE PIECE DAY ’26, scheduled for August 2026. Created by Oda and produced by Toei Animation, the saga follows Luffy and the Straw Hat crew in their search for the legendary treasure; since 1999, it has established itself as the best-selling manga of all time and an essential anime franchise, returning in April with new weekly episodes, opening the highly anticipated Elbaph arc.
