The animated adaptation of Ghost of Tsushima: Legends will no longer make its previously announced 2027 launch window. Aniplex and Crunchyroll have confirmed that the project is now scheduled to premiere sometime in 2028, giving the production team additional time before bringing Sucker Punch Productions’ acclaimed universe to animation. The series will be released exclusively through Crunchyroll.
Kamikaze Douga is handling the production, with Takanobu Mizuno serving as director. Gen Urobuchi is overseeing the story composition and is also co-writing the screenplay alongside Renji Oki. The creative team has also expanded with Keiji Inai joining as composer and Yoshikazu Iwanami taking responsibility for sound design, further defining the production’s audiovisual direction.
Two additional voice actors have also been confirmed for the project. Mayumi Saco and Shinya Fukumatsu have joined the cast, although their respective characters have not yet been revealed. Saco previously voiced Tomoe in the original Ghost of Tsushima video game, making her involvement particularly notable for longtime fans of the franchise. Fukumatsu, meanwhile, is known for voicing Bomb in One-Punch Man.
Alongside the delay announcement, a new key visual has been presented, offering another glimpse at the anime’s interpretation of the Ghost of Tsushima universe. Although the shift to 2028 means fans will have to wait longer than initially expected, the project continues to move forward with an increasingly established production team and a growing cast.
