The world of ONE PIECE is preparing for a major return to cinemas with two new feature films already scheduled for release in Japan. ONE PIECE FILM GOD VALLEY will be released in summer 2027, while a second project, titled ONE PIECE FILM BAAD, is planned for 2029. A first teaser for GOD VALLEY has also been unveiled. It will be the franchise’s first film since ONE PIECE FILM RED, released in 2022 and becoming a huge success with more than 20.3 billion yen in Japanese box-office revenue.

The choice of 2027 is not insignificant, as ONE PIECE will celebrate its 30th anniversary on July 22 of that year. GOD VALLEY directly refers to a particularly important location in the story created by Eiichiro Oda, hinting at a film closely connected to several major events in the series’ universe. The official logos for both productions were also revealed. The ONE PIECE FILM BAAD logo is particularly notable for its imposing letter “D,” drawn by Eiichiro Oda himself.

As for the animated series, ONE PIECE began its Elbaph arc on April 5, 2026, and is currently continuing its broadcast, including on Crunchyroll. More than 26 years after the anime debuted on television in 1999, the franchise has established itself as one of the most important Japanese franchises in the world, now boasting 15 feature films, numerous video games, a trading card game and a wide range of merchandise.

The ONE PIECE manga has now surpassed 510 million copies in circulation worldwide. The spectacular success of ONE PIECE FILM RED in 2022 also demonstrated the franchise’s power in cinemas. With GOD VALLEY in 2027 followed by BAAD in 2029, Toei Animation and Eiichiro Oda are preparing two major new milestones for the future of the saga.
