Nintendo has released a new overview trailer for The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake on Nintendo Switch 2, offering a closer look at several gameplay additions ahead of its November 5, 2026 launch. Among the most notable new features is the Hall of Fallen Foes, a dedicated area where defeated enemies are represented by statues. These monuments are more than decorative, as players will also be able to use them to challenge previously defeated bosses again.
The remake introduces a substantial range of modernized controls and quality-of-life improvements. Players will have access to conventional camera movement, motion-based inputs, a dedicated jump button and a new roll dash. Items can now be assigned to the ZR button and swapped through a quick-access menu. Nintendo has also added the Threads of Time system, which summarizes recent story developments and helps players identify their next objective. Time will now continue to progress inside towns, while additional dialogue has been incorporated throughout the adventure. Players can even hum into the Switch 2 microphone to reproduce melodies, with support also planned for a separately sold physical ocarina.
Integration with Zelda Notes through the Nintendo Switch App will further expand the experience. Today's Record will provide a summary of player progress, while Gossip Quests will function as a scavenger hunt offering points that can be exchanged for ocarina music sheets. The application will also feature a Play Ocarina mode and a quiz containing more than 2,000 questions devoted to Ocarina of Time. Rupees earned through the app can also be transferred into the game, with the system working in both directions. New Young Link and Young Zelda amiibo are scheduled for 2027 and will unlock character-specific masks.
Originally released on Nintendo 64 in 1998, Ocarina of Time marked the Zelda franchise's transition into 3D and remains one of its most influential entries. The game later appeared on multiple Nintendo platforms and received Ocarina of Time 3D for Nintendo 3DS in 2011. Nintendo is also preparing a 40th Anniversary Edition Nintendo Switch 2 console, matching Pro Controller and carrying case for October 29. Meanwhile, the franchise's live action movie is currently scheduled to arrive in theaters on April 30, 2027.
