The new live action Street Fighter movie has made a strong entrance at the box office, taking first place in the United States during its opening weekend. Released on October 16, 2026, the latest cinematic adaptation of CAPCOM's legendary fighting franchise generated an estimated $31 million domestically. International audiences contributed another $20.1 million across 65 markets, bringing the movie's worldwide opening to approximately $51.1 million. IMAX screenings represented a notable portion of that performance, accounting for $7.7 million globally, including $5.4 million from the United States and $2.3 million from overseas territories.

Produced by Legendary Entertainment and distributed by Paramount Pictures, the film is set in 1993 and centers on Ryu and Ken Masters, two fighters who are drawn back into competition after being approached by Chun-Li. Their destination is the World Warrior Tournament, but what initially appears to be another brutal fighting competition soon develops into a much larger conspiracy. The story forces both fighters to confront unresolved elements of their past while facing some of the most recognizable characters from the Street Fighter universe.

The movie features an extensive cast led by Andrew Koji as Ryu, Noah Centineo as Ken and Callina Liang as Chun-Li. Jason Momoa portrays Blanka, David Dastmalchian plays M. Bison, Cody Rhodes appears as Guile, Roman Reigns takes on the role of Akuma and 50 Cent portrays Balrog. The lineup also includes Orville Peck as Vega, Mel Jarnson as Cammy, Olivier Richters as Zangief, Hirooki Gotō as E. Honda, Vidyut Jammwal as Dhalsim and Andrew Schulz as Dan Hibiki. Kitao Sakurai directed the production, which was filmed in Australia beginning in August 2025.

The project also represents the first Legendary Entertainment film released under the company's new worldwide distribution agreement with Paramount Pictures, excluding China, where Legendary East handles distribution. Legendary acquired the film and television rights to Street Fighter in 2023 and is working with CAPCOM on additional projects connected to the franchise. The new movie arrives decades after the 1994 live action Street Fighter starring Jean-Claude Van Damme and the 2009 spin-off The Legend of Chun-Li. Its release also comes during a successful period for the gaming series, with Street Fighter 6 available across PlayStation, Xbox, PC and Nintendo Switch 2.
