Rockstar’s legendary GTA trilogy, comprising Grand Theft Auto 3, Vice City, and San Andreas, has reached a remarkable milestone with more than 30 million downloads on Netflix. This achievement highlights the enduring popularity of these classic games and underscores Netflix’s success in the video game market.
The addition of these iconic titles to Netflix in December marked a strategy aimed at strengthening its mobile gaming offering. Initial reports in January revealed a significant increase in gaming engagement on Netflix, with mobile game downloads nearly tripling to reach 28 million in December. A large portion of these downloads was attributed to the GTA trilogy, demonstrating the franchise’s strong appeal.
Appmagic data shows that San Andreas leads with 20.5 million downloads, followed by Vice City with 6.5 million and GTA 3 with 3.3 million. Most of these downloads were made on Apple devices, primarily in the United States. This makes the GTA series the most successful game ever launched on Netflix, further reinforcing Rockstar’s status as a giant in the video game industry.
