The Pokémon Company has officially announced the return of two classics: Pokémon FireRed and Pokémon LeafGreen will be re-released on Nintendo Switch. Both titles will arrive on the eShop on February 27, and pre-orders are already live. The announcement clearly forms part of the celebrations for Pokémon’s 30th anniversary, with the stated goal of putting Kanto back in the spotlight for longtime fans and newcomers alike.

To accompany the release, more details will be revealed during a Pokémon Presents held for Pokémon Day on February 27 at 6:00 a.m. PST / 9:00 a.m. EST, streamed on YouTube and Twitch. The presentation is expected to include a more complete overview, as well as a trailer dedicated to this re-release, which promises to preserve the spirit of the GBA remake while adapting it to the convenience of the Switch.

In terms of content, FireRed and LeafGreen send you on an adventure to claim the title of Pokémon League Champion: exploring Kanto, catching Pokémon at every turn, progressing through the Badges, and refining your strategies against the Gym Leaders. A notable bonus: a digital exclusive will include the Sevii Islands, adding new areas and more Pokémon to encounter, not to mention the Pokémon Wireless Club for trading, battling and chatting locally.
