Konami has officially announced Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2, a highly anticipated new remastered compilation, particularly for one major reason: it will mark the arrival of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots on modern platforms through its very first port. The announcement should thrill longtime fans, as the installment has until now remained closely associated with a now-outdated generation of consoles.

The collection has been announced for PC (Steam), Xbox Series X|S, PS5, Switch and Switch 2, with a release date set for August 27. Alongside MGS4, the collection will include Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker (the HD Collection version), notably featuring an online mode that can accommodate up to six players. The package will also include Metal Gear: Ghost Babel, presented as the series’ first portable installment in this selection.

Beyond the games, Konami is also emphasizing a particularly extensive “archives” section. Digital content will be accessible from the in-game start menu, including the METAL GEAR SOLID 4 Database, several Screenplay Book and Master Book volumes dedicated to MGS4 and Peace Walker, as well as a Digital Soundtrack Vol. 2 accompanied by an integrated audio player. Finally, other regional versions of MGS4 will be available for separate download through the store, giving collectors and purists something to appreciate.
