Take-Two Interactive has unveiled its third-quarter results and, unsurprisingly, all the indicators are positive as the XXL launch of Grand Theft Auto VI approaches. The publisher announced GAAP net revenue of $1.70 billion, compared with $1.36 billion a year earlier, and highlighted a 23% increase in recurring consumer spending, the in-game purchases that keep the machine running. CEO Strauss Zelnick says that the current momentum, combined with the highly anticipated launch of GTA 6 on November 19, should push the company toward record levels of net bookings in 2027.
But the real shock comes from Grand Theft Auto V’s astonishing staying power. Take-Two confirmed that the game has sold 225 million copies since 2013, cementing its status as a video game giant. And this is not merely a “catalog” success: the series exceeded forecasts, notably thanks to GTA Online, driven by updates and marked growth in recurring consumer spending, with performance improving over the period. In short, even after more than a decade and multiple console releases, GTA V remains a cornerstone of the business.
Looking ahead, the publisher is also raising its expectations for fiscal 2026, which ends on March 31, 2026. CFO Lainie Goldstein hailed a “fantastic” quarter and is counting on the strength of the company’s franchises, from NBA 2K to GTA, not to mention mobile titles such as Toon Blast and Empires & Puzzles. Take-Two is now targeting between $6.65 billion and $6.7 billion in net bookings for the year, and will outline its vision for 2027 when it publishes its fourth-quarter results in May. While some are already dreaming of a remake or a live-action adaptation, Take-Two is mainly counting the zeros.
