The famous video game Elden Ring, developed by FromSoftware and published by Bandai Namco, has reached an impressive milestone, with 30 million copies sold worldwide. Released in February 2022 on numerous platforms, including PlayStation and Xbox consoles and PC, the title got off to a spectacular start, quickly reaching 12 million sales by March of the same year. It even outperformed industry heavyweights such as Call of Duty: Vanguard by becoming the best-selling game in the United States over a twelve-month period.

The game quickly rose to the top of the charts thanks to its polished art direction, rich open world, and deep gameplay. This commercial success was accompanied by major critical acclaim. Elden Ring won numerous prestigious awards, including Game of the Year at the DICE Awards, the Golden Joystick Awards, and The Game Awards. Creator Hidetaka Miyazaki was also praised for his writing, receiving the Nebula Award for Best Game Writing.

Alongside its initial success, an expansion titled Shadow of the Erdtree was released in June 2023, also receiving several major nominations. Building on this momentum, Bandai Namco is preparing to launch a new standalone installment titled Elden Ring: Nightreign, scheduled for release on May 30 across all major platforms. This new installment promises to expand the saga’s fascinating universe, further consolidating Elden Ring’s place among the great video game works of the decade.
