The world of Darwin’s Game is about to enter a new phase with the official announcement of a live-action film adapted from FLIPFLOPs’ supernatural manga. The feature film is scheduled to hit Japanese theaters on March 12, 2027, marking the franchise’s major return in a new format after making its mark first as a manga and then as an anime.
The project’s official website has also unveiled a first teaser trailer, along with visuals of the main characters. As for the cast, Taishi Nakagawa will play Kaname Sudo, while Kōki will portray Shuka Karino. The film will also feature Mei Hata as Rein Kashiwagi, Fuju Kamio as Ryuji Maesaka, and Koji Yamamoto as Ichiro Hiiragi.
Published in Bessatsu Shonen Champion magazine from December 2012 to October 2023, Darwin’s Game established itself as a standout work in modern battle manga. The series concluded with a total of 30 collected volumes and surpassed 10 million copies in circulation, confirming its strong success among fans of stories combining survival, supernatural powers, and strategic battles.
The story follows Kaname Sudo, an ordinary high school student who receives an invitation to test a mysterious app called Darwin’s Game. When he launches the program, he finds himself thrust into a deadly game in which participants battle using special abilities known as Sigils. Already adapted into an anime by studio Nexus in 2020, with an 11-episode series, Darwin’s Game is now preparing to make its big-screen debut with an adaptation that should attract fans of supernatural thrillers and survival games.
