The animation studio MAPPA marked a major moment in anime news by organizing a livestreamed event on June 19 to celebrate its 15th anniversary. While many thought Anime Expo 2026 would dominate the summer in terms of announcements, this special presentation served as a reminder of the studio’s major influence in the Japanese industry.
Renowned for its work on several of today’s biggest anime franchises, MAPPA had fans eagerly anticipating the event. With productions that have become essential viewing, the studio has established itself as one of the industry’s most closely followed players, capable of turning every announcement into an event for the international community.

But the anniversary event was not limited to announcements. A special panel dedicated to Attack on Titan Final Season was also held, featuring director Yuichiro Hayashi and voice actress Yui Ishikawa, known for her role as Mikasa Ackerman. Together, they looked back on the legacy of one of the most significant seasons in the history of Japanese animation while sharing their production memories.
MAPPA also devoted an extended segment to Oblivion Battery, its sports drama, highlighting the series and its cast. The presentation served as a reminder of the franchise’s growing importance within the studio’s catalog, as a second season is already scheduled to air in 2027.
Finally, the studio presented a special anniversary film titled My Life. Conceived as a celebration of MAPPA’s history, the project features the song “My Life,” performed by Tokyo-based group PEOPLE 1. It offered a more emotional and symbolic way to retrace fifteen years of creativity, artistic ambition and evolution in an industry undergoing constant transformation.
