The historical manga Historie by Hitoshi Iwaaki is officially being adapted into a TV anime series. To mark the announcement, the team unveiled a first teaser visual and a teaser PV, which also offer the first-ever glimpse of Eumenes, the hero with an extraordinary destiny. On the production side, LIDENFILMS is taking the lead on the project, with clear ambition already evident in these inaugural images.
Serialized in Japan in the magazine Monthly Afternoon (Kodansha), Historie follows the turbulent path of Eumenes, a Greek secretary whose intelligence and political acumen propel him to the heart of Alexander the Great’s epic. The series currently spans 12 volumes and has a cumulative circulation of more than 4.7 million copies, confirming its unique place among modern historical narratives.
For international readers, an official English digital edition is available through K MANGA. The premise highlights Iwaaki’s return after already making a lasting impression with Parasyte, in a work he had wanted to tackle for a long time: an ancient epic centered on a quick-witted young man destined to become Alexander’s commander and close adviser, whose rise unfolds amid danger and intrigue.
