The anime series I Parry Everything, adapted from the novel by Nabeshiki and illustrated by Kawaguchi, will soon receive a second season, as announced at the festival celebrating the tenth anniversary of Earth Star Novels. The first season aired in summer 2024 on Tokyo MX and BS11. Production was directed by Dai Fukuyama, with a screenplay by Shigeru Murakoshi, character designs by Chikako Noma, and an original score composed by Tatsuhiko Saiki. Studio OLM handled the animation for this first season, which was warmly received by genre fans.
The story takes us to the Kingdom of Clays, a land on the verge of a historic upheaval, although Noor, the protagonist, is completely unaware of it. Trained as a hermit in the mountains for more than ten years, Noor arrives in the capital with a single ambition: to become an adventurer. But his only skill—the ability to parry any attack—seems trivial in the eyes of professionals. Yet despite appearances, this hidden talent could well overturn the established conventions of the adventurer world. His journey promises to be long and fraught with challenges, but his determination is unwavering.
Since its first online publication in 2019 on the Shōsetsuka ni Narō website, the story has enjoyed growing success. Earth Star began publishing it in print in 2020, accompanied by Kawaguchi’s illustrations. A manga drawn by KRSG also began publication that same year on the Comic Earth Star website. The world of I Parry Everything continues to expand, blending epic adventures, offbeat humor, and a subtle critique of the standards of the classic hero. This second anime season therefore promises to continue delighting fans while attracting new viewers.
