Ubisoft has just unveiled the Year 11 roadmap for Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege, and the headline announcement is sure to thrill stealth fans: Solid Snake is officially joining the roster. Following the massive Siege X update in 2025, which modernized the competitive shooter and revived its popularity despite its ten years on the market, the publisher is now preparing the new Operation Silent Hunt season. It is all part of a very “newsroom”-style communication campaign led by Derek Nichols (Game Rant), a gaming journalist who moved from running a personal blog to covering news and guides in 2011.

However, this surge comes after a chaotic period: late 2025 and early 2026 were marked by two major hacking incidents. Ubisoft had to temporarily shut down the servers, while hackers flooded the system with messages, distributed billions of R6 Credits and made developer-exclusive skins accessible, along with abnormal in-game behavior. Worse still, a second attack a week later resulted in bans for some players. Since then, the publisher says it has regained control and is restarting the machine with a highly anticipated Metal Gear Solid crossover, teased in late January and detailed on February 15, with the season scheduled to launch on March 3.

As for the content, Solid Snake arrives as an attacker, voiced by the original actor David Hayter. His Soliton Radar MKIII gadget displays the surrounding area and detects enemies on the current floor, using an indicator system: green (safe area), yellow (default cameras being used by the enemy), red (at least one active opponent). A precision mode even reveals the position icon and field of vision, but with limited charges and a cooldown. His On-Site Procurement ability allows him to collect pouches from eliminated enemies to replenish his secondary gadgets—and, most notably, to carry up to five different ones simultaneously. New weapons are also arriving, including the Tacit .45 pistol, and as primary options, the PMR90A2 DMR or the F2 rifle, now compatible with grips. Ubisoft is also teasing an event mode called [REDACTED], which pairs Snake with Sam Fisher (Zero) in a modified version of Nighthaven Labs, along with a cosmetic collection inspired by Gray Fox and Meryl. Finally, the roadmap adds Black Ice skins, a 1v1 Arcade, modernized versions of Coastline, Oregon and Villa, the retirement of 6v6 Dual Front after the season, and a major balance patch (Skopos becoming 3-speed, Ela’s Grzmot Mines lasting longer, Amaru’s Garra Hook gaining an additional charge, and shield operators being unable to pass through a full-health barricade).
