The studios Hooded Horse and Unfrozen have officially announced a delay for Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era. Originally scheduled for early access in 2025, the game will ultimately be released in 2026 on PC via Steam. To make up for the wait, a playable demo is already available, allowing players to try out some of the new features before the full release. This new installment aims to bring the world of Enroth back to life by showcasing the continent of Jadame, which has never been explored before.

This sequel promises a rich world combining exploration, city building, army management and strategic battles between heroes and mythical creatures. The solo campaign will feature a non-linear narrative, while the multiplayer mode will allow players to challenge rivals or forge alliances. Playable factions will include classics such as the Humans and the Undead, as well as new additions like the insectoid “Hive” faction, corrupted by an Inferno demon, along with a mysterious sixth faction that remains a secret.

In terms of gameplay, players will be able to choose from several multiplayer modes, including an arena for immediate battles, and take advantage of a full map editor to create and share their own scenarios. The combat system retains the series’ iconic hexagonal grid while introducing new mechanics such as active abilities for units and heroes. With improved AI and several difficulty levels, the game aims to appeal both to franchise veterans and newcomers drawn to turn-based strategy.
