The world of Dr. Stone is not finished yet. During the Stone Fes. 2026 event held on October 10, 2026, a new anime project titled Dr. Stone: Terraforming was officially announced. The upcoming production will serve as a sequel to the television anime and will adapt the Terraforming storyline featured in Volume 27 of Riichirou Inagaki and Boichi's manga. This new chapter takes place after the conclusion of the original story, extending Senku's scientific adventure beyond the events covered by the main series.

Dr. Stone made its television debut in July 2019 and quickly developed into a long-running anime franchise. The second season, Dr. Stone: Stone Wars, followed in January 2021, while the one-hour Dr. Stone: Ryusui special aired in July 2022. The third season, Dr. Stone: New World, arrived in April 2023 and was divided into two cours, with its final episode airing in December of the same year. Crunchyroll handled international streaming for several installments of the series, while English dubbed versions were also produced.

The original anime storyline entered its final phase with Dr. Stone: Science Future. Its first cour premiered in January 2025, followed by a second part beginning on July 10, 2025. That installment concluded on September 25, before the final part eventually brought the main television series to an end on June 25, 2026. The announcement of Dr. Stone: Terraforming therefore confirms that the anime franchise will continue even after the completion of its previously announced final season.

Created by writer Riichirou Inagaki and artist Boichi, the Dr. Stone manga began serialization in Weekly Shonen Jump in March 2017 and concluded in March 2022. Its story follows Senku Ishigami and his allies as they attempt to rebuild civilization through science after humanity is mysteriously petrified. The Terraforming continuation expands the universe beyond the manga's original ending. Further information concerning the anime's release date, format, production staff and episode count has yet to be revealed.
