Detective Conan is entering a major anniversary period as the long-running anime adaptation of Gosho Aoyama’s manga celebrates three decades on television. A new commemorative project, 30-go Satsujin Jiken, is among the highlights of the campaign, with its first teaser artwork now revealed ahead of a September 25, 2026 broadcast in Japan. Actress Elaiza Ikeda is joining the production as a special guest, voicing Toko Satomi, a professional whose expertise involves examining documents and currency to determine whether they are authentic or counterfeit.

Detective Conan Marks 30 Years With Major Anniversary Projects

Another ambitious production, The Misohitojima Murder, will take the franchise in a more interactive direction. Rather than simply watching Conan unravel the case, audiences will be encouraged to study the clues and reach their own conclusion about the identity of the culprit. It marks the first time an animated Detective Conan mystery has been specifically designed around direct viewer participation. Takahiro Okura is responsible for the screenplay, while director Yasuichiro Yamamoto, who conceived the project, has also shared an early concept sketch connected to the production.

The anniversary campaign extends well beyond new anime content. Beginning on September 5 at 8:30 PM JST, a curated collection of 30 character-focused episodes is being made available. Japanese creator HIKAKIN is also taking part in the festivities through a special HikakinTV collaboration featuring all 42 episodes from Detective Conan Season 1. The viewing sessions are scheduled to begin at 5 PM JST from September 20 through September 23, with the archived broadcasts remaining accessible until December 31, 2026. Fans attending the Kyoto International Manga & Anime Fair 2026 at Miyakomesse on September 19 and 20 can also expect dedicated Detective Conan appearances and anniversary activities.

The celebrations will continue later in the year. Yamashita Pier in Kanagawa will host a special event on November 21, combining a fireworks display with music from the anime’s iconic opening and ending themes. A separate two-hour television special produced in collaboration with Himitsu no Kenmin SHOW Kiwami is planned for around December 2026, with additional information to be announced at a later date. Thirty years after its television debut, the adventures of Shinichi Kudo, the brilliant young detective whose sharp reasoning allows him to crack seemingly impossible cases, remain one of Japanese animation’s most enduring mystery franchises.
