The One Piece franchise has just announced an unexpected but deeply symbolic partnership with Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF): Tony Tony Chopper has officially become a supporter of the humanitarian organization. The information was confirmed on Friday, accompanied by messaging that plays as much on emotion as on the character’s core identity: a miniature doctor, but a hero with an enormous heart, ready to put his vocation to work for others.
To mark the occasion, Eiichiro Oda personally created an original illustration showing Chopper wearing the MSF flag. For its part, the organization welcomed this new arrival with a simple yet effective phrase: “A new doctor has joined our team.” A clear nod to Chopper’s role in the Straw Hat crew, and a direct bridge between fiction and real-world commitment.
MSF has also launched a dedicated website, presenting the collaboration as “the humanitarian journey of a little doctor with a big heart”: https://www.msf.org/ChopperJoinsMSF/. The stated goal is to follow Chopper alongside MSF teams around the world, wherever access to healthcare becomes a daily struggle. The initiative highlights very concrete situations: rebuilding after natural disasters, obstacles preventing families from seeing a doctor, and care during periods of conflict.
As the icing on the cake for fans, the site features a short original comic titled CHOPPER’s, in which the reindeer doctor discovers MSF’s work. At present, no confirmation has been given regarding a possible continuation of this mini-comic. But between carefully managed messaging and a powerful message, this initiative could well become one of the most memorable crossovers of 2026—without turning into live action or announcing a remake, for once.
